Sadly, it's no longer. But still remembered by many. Also, you should come back down here for a visit sometime!

I recently found a high school report I did on I Bell, Book, and Candle. It said basically "this had a really cool poetic name that it totally failed to live to, and I guess it must be a metaphor for something, like that women should stay away from men because if they don't they lose all their powers."

The conceit is that's how she knows it's really love -- she's lost her powers. But there are a million ways to twist that so she can keep them *and* realize she's actually in love. Definitely the weakest part of the movie for me, too.

I have such fondness for Bewitched (the show, not the movie) and even I Dream of Jeannie, having grown up with them, and I don't think I got that these incredibly cool powerful women with actual *powers* let the men they loved dictate when and how to use them.

Of course, if Bewitched were made today, there wouldn't be a show, because I think the perception is that most guys would say, "Sure! Twitch me up a meal and a big-screen TV and season tickets!"

One thing I enjoyed about Bewitched is occasionally Samantha would get tired of Darren, put on her cool black witch's dress, and head off with her mother to hang with the other witches. I was fascinated by the whole witch world.

So, that's what The Descendants is about. I didn't stick around long enough to find out how it turns out. I'll write the money off, no problem.

Man, it was between that or The Artist. Picked wrong.

Bummer. The GF suggested going to see This Means War this weekend for our date night, but the reviews are pretty universally awful.

My reasons for seeing the movie cannot be affected by critical acclaim. This is all about me and my needs. I want Tom Hardy to have the best reviews ever, but this is not about him. I knew from the production stills and stolen snaps during filming that it was dubious at best.

Yet, T-Hard shoots people and kisses people and hits people. I just bought tickets for me and Polgara.

The trailer made it seem like a lot of fun, the reviews not so much. Since I don't have the same eye-candy tastes you do(and find the Witherspoon a neutral value) fun is the only angle of interest for me.
