See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.
I want all the big studios to take a lot more chances on original screenplays, but I can't get too worked up over remakes of classics; they're often iconic and stunning, but sometimes it makes me a little sad that we're not likely to, say, see another pair of great actresses a generation behind the originals tackle Thelma and Louise. A great stage play will get produced over and over, and one of the pleasures of being a theatergoer and an actor is getting to compare productions and see the new and surprising things that various companies bring to these roles you thought you already knew everything about.
The original Rebecca was nigh perfect, but it also had a couple of great and complex roles for tremendous actresses. If it's not all fucked up with CGI or some such nonsense, I want to see how our current generation of greats tackles them.

I think a lot of the problem comes from the fact that movies are so expensive to make ... at least the way so many are made. Aside from the special effects and CGI, how many movies are going to be able to afford two major stars? Remember The Women? how many major actresses were in that? Could it ever be made today? And would any studio pay that many stars' salaries to get them? Not to mention what seems a trend to gear so many movies to young men, who wouldn't sit still for it.

I was going to say, based on the Spider-man franchise we might be seeing a Potter reboot by about 2020. Hopefully, Maggie Smith will be able to reprise her role!
