Because books.

It kills me that half of the nominated movies aren't going to show up in theaters near me until after they win something. I really want to see both The Artist and Albert Nobbs, but getting into Philly to see them is a little more complicated than I want to tackle.

I'm glad Rooney Mara was nominated. She blew me away as Lisbeth. I'm a little surprised the movie didn't get any other nominations, though.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Whoah. Pixar didn't even get nominated.

Maybe next year they should go back to making kids movies where the characters aren't tortured to death?

But really that category is Rango and oh-shit-we-need-four-other-movies.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Only two original songs? And, listening to the Rio one, I am deeply underwhelmed.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

My first reaction to the Oscar noms is Kung Fu Panda 2? I'd never have guessed.

It was surprisingly beautiful. Visually. The story was basically what you'd expect.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" got a sound editing nom? How much artistry can there be in the continuous roar of explosions for 90 minutes? (Full disclosure: I haven't seen the movie, but having seen one playing in the theater next to it I feel qualified to be judgmental.)

Wrod. They do wonderful things with the various styles of animation. I meant to go see it again just so I could marvel at the lushness and realism of what they did. They used traditional 2D Saturday morning style animation for flashback sequences, and when they went back to the standard 3D version, the sheer difference made me think I was looking at photography for several minutes.

It's next up in my Netflix queue, so I will LISTEN.

Also, the goddamn thing is 154 minutes.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Effie Trinket's look has really grown on me. Plus that's s great character name.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That's a pretty sweet Tumblr. I'll be rooting for the Capitol in a second.
