Thrive to spite them

Andre Royo's arms are showcased nicely as well. His role isn't huge but he was really good. I'm not sure why but on IMDB his character is listed way down, under characters with no names and very limited dialogue.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I still remember being angry that some vaguely fourth-wall breaking joke in Rustler's Rhapsody appeared in the trailer and not the actual movie.

I probably would have read them myself by now except that EVERY SINGLE PERSON I KNOW has been gushing over them for so long that I'm resentful of how many hours of my life have been spent listening to people talk about The Hunger Games. No matter if the books are any good or not, they've already taken up more time than I want to give them, so they're not getting read.

Bwah! I know how you feel. I am filled with newfound sympathy for Allyson vis-à-vis The Lord of the Rings.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I was glad that What's Your Number used footage in the trailer that wasn't in the movie, because I was already sick of the trailer clips and the movie wasn't that great to start with. Fine, but not that great.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I used to get turned off movies because everyone was excited about them, and I just don't share the background that they're all coming from, and got too irritated to find out if I even cared. And I've spent a fair amount of time catching up from that. I don't have the energy to build up that resentment anymore. I just care or don't care.

My first reaction to the Oscar noms is Kung Fu Panda 2? I'd never have guessed. I like that The Warrior got a bit of mention, and the movies the leading men are nominated for--most of them I have some intention of seeing.

Albert Nobbs weirds me out. Anyone have recommendations for it?

hwæt

Whoah. Pixar didn't even get nominated.

Hey. New board.

Was there a Pixar movie this year?

Oh yeah, Cars 2. It was pretty roundly panned, if I recall, so I'm not surprised. It might be better than some of those movies, but my guess it got passed over as a punishment to Pixar for doing so much worse than their usual.

Because books.

It kills me that half of the nominated movies aren't going to show up in theaters near me until after they win something. I really want to see both The Artist and Albert Nobbs, but getting into Philly to see them is a little more complicated than I want to tackle.

I'm glad Rooney Mara was nominated. She blew me away as Lisbeth. I'm a little surprised the movie didn't get any other nominations, though.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Whoah. Pixar didn't even get nominated.

Maybe next year they should go back to making kids movies where the characters aren't tortured to death?

But really that category is Rango and oh-shit-we-need-four-other-movies.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Only two original songs? And, listening to the Rio one, I am deeply underwhelmed.
