Never seen any of the MOthra, but from Wikipedia, I gather Mothra was a good monster, summoned to fight evil monsters. True? Also Mothra fought Godzilla, but in one of the "Mothra vs. Godzilla" they teamed up against a third evil monster. True? If I'm wrong did Godzilla ever save the world (or portion of it) by taking on a worse monster?

Definitely. Godzilla vs. Ghidorah!

Mothra - it should be noted - is a Girl Monster. Also, she's associated with Japanese gods and the Phoenix.

I have some Jane Fonda-Shelley Winters movie playing on TCM in the background, and every time I look up from my cereal there's a different woman in a ripped dress fleeing an assault by a horny guy (or group of same). It's like watching that horrible scene from The Accused on a loop!

We call my mom Mothra sometimes. It started when we were teenagers. She thinks it's because it's a variation on "mother" but we kids know the truth.

Looooved the Hobbit trailer!!

One of my favorite things about the LotR films, at least about the progression of them, was that Jackson gradually increased the amount of poetry/songs over the course of the trilogy. Maybe because he (or possibly the studio) only slowly began to trust that the audience would follow along and not view it as silly twee-ness, but for whatever reason, I loved it. The theatrical FotR had very little of either, the extended added a song and some poetry; theatrical TTT had a bit more, extended offered additional Treebeard and Eowyn; and Rotk went all in.

The fact that they had filmed Aragorn's delivery of Elendil's lines at his coronation several different ways (spoken in English, spoken in Elvish, sung in English, and sung in Elvish), but went with the most esoteric and didn't even subtitle it (!!!) made my fannish heart so happy.

So I just love that PJ went with the dwarves' song in the trailer.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Very excited about the Hobbit trailer. It's going to be a long 12 months to wait.

Glad they're keeping (at least some of) the songs. Though I could do without the elf song as they enter Rivendell (unless they change it to Elvish.) It's way too Keebler-elfy for my tastes, if that makes any sense.

I wonder if they'll keep the goblin songs. "Fifteen birds/ in five fir trees/ Their feathers were fanned/ in a fiery breeze..."
