OMG, the gyno scene in the What's Your Number preview still makes me cackle EVERY SINGLE TIME. I have seen it a zillion times!

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Interesting Typo. It's been many years since I've seen Blue Angel and I admit I remember very little of it. The only scene that vividly comes to mind is Dietrich's strip tease because how WRONG is that outfit ? Well that and the way the camera gazes into her eyes.
The last time I saw Blue Angel was film class. Great movie.
It's been years since I've seen Blue Angel, too. However, in a fit of synchronicity, I did watch Destry Rides Again last night.
Worst Neighbor Ever.
David Hewlett!! I mean, I can kind of understand his frustration at that point. And he certainly got his comeuppance in a number of ways.
Also, I love John Lithgow.
Eff Christopher Nolan.
Awww. I still love Inception, though I'm coming to the conclusion that he's the William Gibson of action movies.
he's the William Gibson of action movies
Having never read any William Gibson, what does this mean?
It's funny, I am completely satisfied with my interpretation of Inception and lurve it to bits, problematic as it is.
Also, hi juliana!!
Gibson (I'm really speaking of early Gibson, Neuromancer Gibson) builds these super-intricate worlds that are completely amazing, but the level of technological brilliance is offset by the fact that you don't really connect with the characters on a deep level. You like them, you root for them, but you don't really see inside them so much. (Partially because the characters are often mysteries to themselves.)
I love almost everything Gibson's written to be honest. It's just something I've noticed about his writing. (And the Gibson influences are why I love The Matrix so much. Such a cool movie.)
Ah, I see.
you don't really see inside them so much. (Partially because the characters are often mysteries to themselves.)
That is a good explanation for the fic explosion around the film. So much room to play...
Yup. Except that, in Inception, the only character who's a mystery to himself is Dom - everyone else just chooses not to reveal much of anything.
(Also, I wish fandom wrote more Saito. I love Eames and would very much like to be him, but I want more Saito.)
