I definitely heard criticism of the book from friends who read it.

Amy,
I have not read the book, nor seen the movie, but my mother has read the book. She said that what she liked about the book is the way the author developed the relationships and character growth.
Some of the complaints I have seen about the movie is how various historical events are minimized and there are times where interactions are pretty stereotypical. At this point and the way my mood is, I want no part of the film.
Maybe I will soften on this point when it comes to tv.

Thrive to spite them
So I finally saw Captain America. Ended up seeing it in 3D because that was what was available.
I really really enjoyed Captain America. And, surprisingly, I enjoyed it in 3D. Enough so now I want to give Harry Potter in 3D a try. If it's still playing next week.

One of my favorite roles of his back then was in Malice. Hot and arrogant and sort of smarmy, but not a true villain in the end.

That's actually from the comics, where part of their rah-rah chant is "Cut off a limb, and two more shall take its place!"
No, it doesn't really make much sense why they picked a hydra as their symbol instead of, say, a starfish.
