A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

but the movie in my head was SO MUCH BETTER than what wound up onscreen

This is SO often the case.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I found them compelling sociopaths, and with the movie with which it's so often compared, and whose name I forget, I just thought they were nasty small people.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Ziggy Stardust helping Wolverine fight Batman

I'm sorry, I got distracted -- there were other sentences after this? I mean, anywhere in the entire English language?

move out and draw fire

I called the twist about 10 minutes into the book, and then had to go another few days until I finished the book. However, the reveal in the book w a little more emotional, so it evens out, I guess?

My video guy is doing a series of ads for our new tech/culture program, and has opted to use clips from movies (legal issues are settled). The first one is Napoleon Dynamite, singing at the wedding, with the message being that our employees are Napoleon Dynamite. I can't decide if I like it, but then I haven't seen the movie.

The Illusionist?

Yes. I thought they were boringly reprehensible.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Ziggy Stardust, Batman, and Wolverine - together they fight crime? Now wouldn't THAT be a movie!

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I think the Illusionist is one of those Ben is Glory things. For the life of me, I can never remember the title of that movie, and if pressed tomorrow, I will probably have forgotten it.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

And they just released another movie with that name recently.

Compassionately intolerant

Plus, Gloria Steinem is involved with the making of a documentary with the same name. It's the name of their twitter feed and startles me every time I see it.
