Funny thing about black and white. You mix it together and you get gray. And it doesn't matter how much white you try and put back in, you're never gonna get anything but gray.

move out and draw fire

I called the twist about 10 minutes into the book, and then had to go another few days until I finished the book. However, the reveal in the book w a little more emotional, so it evens out, I guess?

My video guy is doing a series of ads for our new tech/culture program, and has opted to use clips from movies (legal issues are settled). The first one is Napoleon Dynamite, singing at the wedding, with the message being that our employees are Napoleon Dynamite. I can't decide if I like it, but then I haven't seen the movie.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The Illusionist?

Yes. I thought they were boringly reprehensible.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Ziggy Stardust, Batman, and Wolverine - together they fight crime? Now wouldn't THAT be a movie!

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I think the Illusionist is one of those Ben is Glory things. For the life of me, I can never remember the title of that movie, and if pressed tomorrow, I will probably have forgotten it.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

And they just released another movie with that name recently.

Compassionately intolerant

Plus, Gloria Steinem is involved with the making of a documentary with the same name. It's the name of their twitter feed and startles me every time I see it.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I always think of the animated film by Sylvain Chomet (the Triplets of Belleville guy), which was wonderful.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Just got back from Captain America. I think it may be the best comics-based movie I've ever seen.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Emmett and I saw Captain America today and quite enjoyed it.

The two teenaged girls sitting behind us broke out in a bit of appreciative giggles on seeing Steve Rogers super-soldierized body.

Spider-Man 2 remains my gold standard, though.

And I think X-Men 2 is underrated and kind of forgotten.

And the first Chris Reeve Superman. Also Supes II ("kneel before Zod!")

Uhm, and Batman Returns for the pure gothic sets and Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman.

Iron Man (not second one, though, which was very formulaic).

Then the Nolan Batmans, I guess. I like them but I don't love them as much as Emmett (or ita).

Kickass and Scott Pilgrim are on the list.
