Oh Jessica, I Loved "The Prestige." It was the other magic movie with Jessica Biel that was just so bad. I was disappointed for weeks.

I'm with le nubian. Loved The Prestige. Didn't think much of The Illusionist.
Advance reviews of Cowboys and Aliens have been generally positive.
So, apparently, the creator came up with the name first and tried to sell the film rights, even before the comic book was written
Wow, damn.
I loved The Prestige too. So maybe I will like this.
I loved The Prestige, too, although I think a lot of it was the costume/set porn. And, you know, Hugh Jackman.
I didn't mind The Illusionist but I never rewatched it.
I expect this movie to have cowboys, aliens, and Olivia Wilde being hot and occasionally naked.
I now expect it to have Cowboys, Aliens, and Indians (in the guise of Adam beach), so I'm all over it. I just need to see Daniel Craig in person to get ready for the movie.
I found The Prestige disappointing too. Actually, I found it alienating, all of the main characters were sociopaths as far as I was concerned. But then there was the beautiful sets, as Amy notes, and bonus Hugh Jackman and David Bowie(!!!), so it was definitely worth seeing.
I agree with Burrell on The Prestige.
Hugh Jackman and David Bowie(!!!)
See, this was my feeling going into it (plus Christian Bale), so when the movie turned out NOT to be Ziggy Stardust helping Wolverine fight Batman...yeah.
I'm not saying my disappointment was reasonable, but the movie in my head was SO MUCH BETTER than what wound up onscreen. (Plus, since I called the twist about ten minutes in,I kept expecting another, COOLER twist at the end, and there wasn't any.)
but the movie in my head was SO MUCH BETTER than what wound up onscreen
This is SO often the case.
