While I have no doubt Ritchie made it as actiony as he remotely could, I'm on board with beefing Watson and Holmes up more, like the books seem to have them.
Oh sure. But shirtless boxing? [Also,] Is it later in time than the books?
If that means they need to indulge in some man-loving, well, these things do happen.
Oh yeah, I'm fine with that.
I also get a little creeped out seeing RDJ play more addicts.
But shirtless boxing?
Holmes was a fighter, apparently. I don't know if shirtless is true to the period. But people should pander to me more, so I'm not going to say anything.

There is that.
Iron Man II
is on the way, and I think they're supposed to deal with his alcoholism in it.
(I love Rhind-Tutt, but he is funny looking).
He is rather... distinctive. But that speaking voice! OMG... he's one of those who could just read the phone book to me and I'd be happy.
But shirtless boxing?
The boxing is canonical, at least, though I don't know about the shirtlessness.

The Sherlock Holmes stories covered a pretty big amount of time. Technically, if Irene Adler is in the movie, it would be quite early in the canon, but something makes me suspect this movie does not have both feet in canon.

If you see boxing posters from the late Victorian era, the illos often have the boxers shirtless, wearing long, tight trousers tucked into shin-high boots.

Huh. That's a look I hope gets revived.
Well, maybe not for him....
OK, I'll keep an open mind. And re-read the stories and try to get what's his name out of my head.

Go check the link I posted tommy.
