(I love Rhind-Tutt, but he is funny looking).
He is rather... distinctive. But that speaking voice! OMG... he's one of those who could just read the phone book to me and I'd be happy.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

But shirtless boxing?
The boxing is canonical, at least, though I don't know about the shirtlessness.
[Also,] Is it later in time than the books?
The Sherlock Holmes stories covered a pretty big amount of time. Technically, if Irene Adler is in the movie, it would be quite early in the canon, but something makes me suspect this movie does not have both feet in canon.
I don't know if shirtless is true to the period.
If you see boxing posters from the late Victorian era, the illos often have the boxers shirtless, wearing long, tight trousers tucked into shin-high boots.

Huh. That's a look I hope gets revived.
Well, maybe not for him....
OK, I'll keep an open mind. And re-read the stories and try to get what's his name out of my head.

Paul Bettany skeeves you, Barb? Why?
Paul Bettany skeeves you, Barb? Why?
I don't know why, exactly. Something about the severe lines of his face kind of give off a serial killer vibe to me. I buy him very easily as a villain, but have a harder time with him as a hero or romantic lead, which is horribly unfair, I know, but sometimes, being that distinctive looking can be a real detriment.
