There is so much I want to get behind in that Holmes movie, but I don't know. Maybe if I can pretend they are saying different names, and not Holmes/Watson.

I liked
Diane Duane's Romulans (My Enemy, My Ally) and John M. Ford's Klingons (The Final Reflection) much better than anything in TNG and DS9 canon. Have you read them?
Maybe if I can pretend they are saying different names, and not Holmes/Watson.
While I have no doubt Ritchie made it as actiony as he remotely could, I'm on board with beefing Watson and Holmes up more, like the books seem to have them. If that means they need to indulge in some man-loving, well, these things do happen.

'Specially with all the cocaine Holmes did.
I don't know. I want to like it, but I get a whole "Van Helsing" vibe from the trailer.

INDEED. And the boyfriend bickering in the clip I saw was PERFECT.
Although I sort of wish it was Paul Bettany playing Watson instead of Jude Law.

Ugh. No. Not that I'm any big fan of Jude, but Bettany skeeves the hell out of me. I would have loved to have seen Julian Rhind-Tutt as Watson.
Ha! I love Paul Bettany, but my sister just Skyped me (she's the one that gave me the trailer URL) that she'd only want him in as a hound of Baskerville.
K-razy people!
(I love Rhind-Tutt, but he is funny looking).

Yeah, that looks like a fun movie, but it doesn't seem like Sherlock Holmes to me.

Oh sure. But shirtless boxing? [Also,] Is it later in time than the books?

Oh yeah, I'm fine with that.
I also get a little creeped out seeing RDJ play more addicts.
