"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'm a little annoyed at Hermione for not immediately devouring 'Beedle the Bard'. Cripes, witch, knowing you and knowing Dumbledore why do you think he left it to you?

Well, in the book she does read it incessantly. Also, Dumbledore's version is written in runes.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I forgot that she does read it right away in the book. But Dumbledore does mark the pertinent tale. I guess the Deathly Hallows is not as obvious as it seems in hindsight.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't know enough about classic albums to get all those, but why is Dobby on that Queen album instead of Neville?

Because Dobby has the bug eyes?

How cool is it that my HP obsessed roomie noticed on the lobby standees that Voldemort has The Elder Wand and Hermione has Bellatrix's.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Having seen DH1 but not yet read the book, I would say the movie makes very little sense without having read the book first. I'm not sure why so little happens in the first movie, and yet it feels like so much of the plot is glossed over. Like they decided to skip certain would-have-been-helpful scenes in order to linger a bit longer over certain moody moments.

Not that it's making me less desirous of seening DH2, just makes me want to gobble through the books quicker so I can finally understand what's going on.

I think the Pink Floyd cover is my favorite.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I guess the Deathly Hallows is not as obvious as it seems in hindsight.

Everybody thinks it's completely dotty. It's like believing in Bigfoot, or Nargles which is exactly why Xenophilius is into it, I guess.

Most people don't even know about the Hallows at all. Even somebody as deep into wand lore as Olivander doesn't have a clue.

It would be like handing somebody a fairytale version of Snow White and expecting that person to deduce that there were really vampires in the world. (As Tanith Lee famously riffed on "skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood..)

I love that the spell Hermione suggests Ron try to stop it raining is "finite incantatem" the wizard equivalent of the power switch. It's fitting that some guys would call tech support.
