Early: Where'd she go? Simon: I can't keep track of her when she's not incorporeally possessing a space ship. Don't look at me.

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I have to say, the Lego Harry Potter game for the ipad is pretty fucking fun. If it is anything like that, I'm all over it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Ananse looks Morgan Freeman. I think I've known that longer than I've known who Morgan is.

Or Clarke Peters.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Oooh, yeah, I like that one.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I'm not familiar with Peters, but his resume certainly looks up to the task of the song-and-dance man I envision the character to be. Though I think Hinton Battle would be my preference among still-living actors.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Ben Vereen? Maybe too old. It's also been a while since I read the book.

Best interactive movie experience: dark theatre, lots of geeks, black screen, Scully's voice: "Mulder?" Shriek of joy.

(I liked the X-Files movies, I love seeing Moose and Squirrel in action. Nyah.)

The Cowboys and Aliens preview got a good reaction, too. I may have to make sure I see that in a theatre with a good sound system, and not wait for the dollar movie.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Does anyone know where the Stately Xavier Manor scenes in X-Men: First Class were filmed? It doesn't seem to be the same place as the school for gifted children in earlier X-Men movies (filmed at Hatley Castle, in BC). The current movie's location seems more tower-y, with fewer slanted roofs. I suppose it could be someone's dream mansion green-screened in.
