So, I have a lot of reactions to the article and to how the movie addressed difference. For example, when Magneto
was speaking with Mystique and said he liked her the way she was, it is all well and good for him to say it - he doesn't have an obvious physical manifestation that he is different. I found that his perspective came from a very privileged position that he didn't thoroughly acknowledge.
it is all well and good to berate Charles Xavier
but it is the rare individual whose initial reaction wouldn't be to come up a bit short at Mystique's natural appearance. Not to mention the fact that Magneto wouldn't be on the top of my "must date" list due to his quest for vengeance. Doesn't really make an ideal partner.
In any event, in the movie it was presented as a bit black and white to me.
Ta-Nehisi Coates wrote an editorial on XM:FC in the NYT: [link] Not really spoilery.
I just saw the title for this gif being
"WATCH AS ERIK CONTEMPLATES ASKING MYSTIQUE TO MORPH INTO CHARLES. YOU WERE ALL THINKING IT, DON’T EVEN FRONT"
It's gayer than Supernatural. It's as gay as White Collar.
I just saw the naughty easter egg in the PoA credits. Is this real or a .gif? I don't own a copy or I could check myself.
Hmm. Nobody told me Kyle Chandler was in Super 8. And the reviews look good...
Ooh, this article about Clark Gable is SO GOOD. And check out her other Scandals of Classic Hollywood pieces, too. [link]

That's really fun but neglects one of the long-rumored scandals of Hollywood lore. Namely that the young, aspirant new-to-Hollywood Clark Gable serviced George Cukor (the gay director) when he first arrived, and it was because of this memory (Gable wasn't gay and was ashamed of his cocksuckage) he had Cukor fired from directing Gone With the Wind.
David, did you see their earlier story on Clara Bow? I'm only pointing this out because the bottom picture of her looks just like JZ.

I totally agree with her on It Happened One Night.
I was surprised there was no mention of the "cock sock" Lombard supposedly gave Gable, unless I missed it (I kinda skimmed).
That Clara Bow picture is a little spooky.
