"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Ooh, this article about Clark Gable is SO GOOD. And check out her other Scandals of Classic Hollywood pieces, too.

That's really fun but neglects one of the long-rumored scandals of Hollywood lore. Namely that the young, aspirant new-to-Hollywood Clark Gable serviced George Cukor (the gay director) when he first arrived, and it was because of this memory (Gable wasn't gay and was ashamed of his cocksuckage) he had Cukor fired from directing Gone With the Wind.

hwæt

David, did you see their earlier story on Clara Bow? I'm only pointing this out because the bottom picture of her looks just like JZ.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Ooh, this article about Clark Gable is SO GOOD.

I totally agree with her on It Happened One Night.

I was surprised there was no mention of the "cock sock" Lombard supposedly gave Gable, unless I missed it (I kinda skimmed).

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

That Clara Bow picture is a little spooky.

I saw that too, but forgot to say anything!

I'm currently reading the article about Robert Mitchum...

I did, and she does. Ple pointed me at some Louise brooks pix which also look like JZ, but you have to see Louise without her classic bob to really get the proper angle.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Super 8 doesn't live up to the hype, says IO9. I missed the hype, really.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Super 8 doesn't live up to the hype, says IO9

But that's OK, the headline continues. So I'm cool. I'm excited to see it on Sunday.

Yeah, I didn't see any hype. And I admit I tend to be cautious of anything with JJ Abrams' name on it nowadays, just on general principles.

move out and draw fire

The LA Times critic said that "it most resembles Spielberg's best-loved work"

and then he said "E.T."

If he'd said "Poltergeist," I'd be in the theater.
