Oh! I was wondering something about Thor, and Jess's DH mentioned it in his review -- he says that there is a reference to Bruce Banner, as well as Tony Stark. Now, I caught the latter, because it was an obvious namecheck, but was Banner mentioned by name?

Tim was thinking it was when Man Physicist from Good Will Hunting said that he had a friend who had dealt with S.H.I.E.L.D. before, and he would get in touch with him. Was *that* the reference to Bruce Banner? (Also, it's possible that he was namechecked and I didn't hear it; I have lousy hearing, apparently. This troubles me.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Steph, I'm pretty sure that was the reference.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Yes, didn't he say that he worked with gamma radiation? And isn't that what gave Hulk his power, improper exposure?

Despite the fact that Thor never refers to himself as the god of thunder, Tim and I have been making jokes for the last 24 hours that start with "The God of Thunder..." like "The God of Thunder demands a cruller!" It's really more like Olaf the Troll. t edit On edit, the cruller bit isn't actually a *joke,* per se; I'm just enjoying bellowing "THE GOD OF THUNDER" in an Olaf-the-troll voice.

But then! Tim followed through with the best damn punchline ever.

Me: "Oh, Thor, what a mighty hammer you have, so large and well-endowed!"
Tim: "The hammer is my penis."

Thor, meet Captain Hammer.

And hey -- since Joss is writing The Avengers, there is ample room to get a Captain Hammer joke in.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Has there ever been a Thor and She Hulk hook up?

Because she could totally rejoinder, "Well, my pussy is the anvil."

I ganked it from a Scola link, if memory serves: [link]

They showed all the comic book movie trailers before Thor. In terms of excitingness, X Men impressed me, and now I'm equating it with Green Lantern. Captain America was cooler.

I've seen people bitching about the skinny Steve CGI, but I think it's excellent. If I didn't know what Chris looks like, I'd just think it's a painfully skinny guy, not an effect gone wrong.

Man, we didn't get Green Lantern OR X-Men! We got 3 Musketeers and Super 8, along with Captain America and some other stuff I disremember.

We got Super 8 too. No 3 Musketeers. And I haven't seen PotC in the theatre yet.

One of the stunt cars from Furious Five was in front of the mall. Reminds me I have to see it.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I walked in at the tail end of the Green Lantern trailer, seeing just enough to cement my certainty that I'm not going to like it.

I thought it was just a skinny guy they'd found that looked like him.
