Robert Redford and Sean Connery were, too, until they crossed over into Craggy stage.
Oooh, George Clooney! And Brad Pitt! Seriously, young Brad Pitt was just sort of generically pretty, like an unstamped penny. Redford was like that, too (and allow me to point out again how creepy it was that Pitt was a dead ringer for Redford in A River Runs Through It). But then they got older, and BAM!
Green Lantern preview during Smallville! Cool!
George Clooney! Good one. I knew there were more people on my list.
Richard Dean Anderson.
Richard Gere.
Ooooh! That's the best casting news I have heard yet.
Robert Downey Jr. is so very much one of those men who get much more attractive as they age.
See also: Colin Firth.
I beg to differ. I've been a fan of Colin's since he turned up in
Another Country
and
Dutch Girls
in quick succession in about 1985, and he was already quite attractive enough then. (I saw
Dutch Girls
with a room full of teenage girls and there were audible gasps). In fact I think the slightly younger, leaner look suits him better.
Clooney though, definitely.
They cast Katniss and Prim's mom. I think she'll be perfect.
Oh, I like.
I'm still horribly anxious about who they'll cast for Haymitch and Cinna.
My personal wish list has Jeffrey Dean Morgan or Robert Downey Jr. as Haymitch and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cinna, but I'm not holding out hope.
I forget where I saw it, but someone said John C. Reilly was being considered for Haymitch, which I think could work really well. I've never seen Haymitch as particularly good-looking, although I know he was supposed to be, of course, healthier and stronger as a young man.
someone said John C. Reilly was being considered for Haymitch
Oh, yes. That could work very nicely.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cinna
Oh YES. YES.
I also thought of Christopher Gorham when I was reading the book.
Haymitch is also Jim Beaver or Jeff Bridges to me.
