Ooooh! That's the best casting news I have heard yet.

It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Robert Downey Jr. is so very much one of those men who get much more attractive as they age.
See also: Colin Firth.
I beg to differ. I've been a fan of Colin's since he turned up in Another Country and Dutch Girls in quick succession in about 1985, and he was already quite attractive enough then. (I saw Dutch Girls with a room full of teenage girls and there were audible gasps). In fact I think the slightly younger, leaner look suits him better.
Clooney though, definitely.
They cast Katniss and Prim's mom. I think she'll be perfect.
Oh, I like.
I'm still horribly anxious about who they'll cast for Haymitch and Cinna.
My personal wish list has Jeffrey Dean Morgan or Robert Downey Jr. as Haymitch and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cinna, but I'm not holding out hope.
I forget where I saw it, but someone said John C. Reilly was being considered for Haymitch, which I think could work really well. I've never seen Haymitch as particularly good-looking, although I know he was supposed to be, of course, healthier and stronger as a young man.
someone said John C. Reilly was being considered for Haymitch
Oh, yes. That could work very nicely.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cinna
Oh YES. YES.
I also thought of Christopher Gorham when I was reading the book.
Haymitch is also Jim Beaver or Jeff Bridges to me.
I finally saw The King's Speech today. It was worth the wait. The only surprise was the Guy Pearce was in it and I had no idea. When did he drop into obscurity?
Jilli, did you ever see the 1970 Czech movie Valerie and Her Week of Wonders?
I ask because of this description:
"Valerie and Her Week of Wonders" is a wonderfully surreal and hallucinatory horror/fantasy tale made by Jaromil Jires. This poetic film looks like a curious mixture of "Alice in Wonderland" and "Nosferatu". The pubescent Valerie is awakened one day by a pasty-faced, Nosferatu-like vampire who steals her earrings (which, we later learn, are imbued with magical powers). She pursues him, but he manages to vanish into a crowd. She spots the vampire again later, feebly disguised behind a mouse-head mask, and points him out to her (alarmingly pale) grandmother. As it turns out, the earring thief has vampirized Valerie's grannie, along with much of the town, and furthermore has set up shop in the dark, cobwebby basement of Valerie's house! Matters aren't helped by the presence of a lecherous priest with an eye for Valerie, but things really come to a head when Val's young, pretty 'aunt' moves in and tries to take Valerie out of the picture. The aunt is in fact Val's vampirized grandmother looking to further the head vamp's nefarious aims. Luckily Valerie's one true love, a dashing young man, is there...The main actress Jaroslava Schallerova is stunningly beautiful.
You can see a clip here and even ahem it if one were so inclined (in 8 parts)
I saw King's Speech the other day and loved it! Sadly, I followed that up with Skyline which was horrible! I wish I'd watched them in the opposite order so that King's Speech would have cleansed my palate.
And quester, I totally didn't recognize Guy Pearce until I was watching some of the extras. It didn't look like him at all!
The only surprise was the Guy Pearce was in it and I had no idea. When did he drop into obscurity?
I know, right?? When I saw it, I thought, is that Guy Pearce? That can't be Guy Pearce. If Guy Pearce were in this movie, I would have known. Right? People would have mentioned it? And then it was Guy Pearce.
