Where did you watch the first episode of TNG?

At a housing co-op in Madison. I discovered it was on by accident and joined them in the TV room. I didn't watch the first few years (for the most part) as I was skeptical about the new series at first.

Where did you watch the first episode of TNG? Did you have a geek gathering of friends?

TV room in the college dorm. I didn't know any other girls who were into Trek (and I really wasn't, overly, but knew enough about TOS via the dozen or so eps I had seen and the movies that I had seen multiple times to be intrigued by the idea of TNG), so it was just me a few geek guys in the rather small room in the basement. A few people would stroll by on their way to doing laundry and watch for a few minutes, but it wasn't appointment TV.

My most interesting TNG viewing experience was the season finale of Season 4, when they had the big reveal of Denise Crosby in Romulan garb. I was sitting there with my mouth open when the phone rang and it was my sister, watching in her apartment in the city, screaming into the phone, "Was that who I think that was?!?"

I didn't have a lot of friends in the area at the time, so I wound up watching the premiere alone at my mom's house. For three or four years it was the one and only hour of TV I watched.

My friends and I had a party. We watched it at Ann and Erick's apartment in the city (they were sibs). About twenty people packed in the room with popcorn and beer.

Ann also had the first Star Wars marathon (at home) that I recall after all the videos first came out.

Unsurprisingly, Ann and Erick and I (and Marti and Thud) all went to the Exotic Erotic Ball as Space Pirates in 1987. We had blue rum.

Ann is now Dr. Ann, the Neurologist. Girl geek makes good.

The best part of the first ep of TNG was the Admiral bitching about getting honored for being the one who didn't die. Ah, Bones.

I've never forgiven TNG for what they did to Sarek.

I was particularly interested in him talking about Trek novels; he's a big fan of Prime Directive.

I don't remember watching the first episode but I kept having to fight to watch TNG because it came on at the same time as the second hour of professional wrestling, which my brother watched, and which also was when the best matches were on. So there was a constant fight over whether or not I got to watch TNG or had to suffer through wrestling.

What I remember is being at my grandparents at a family gathering, trying to convince my parents and a few others that TNG was really good, with good stories and could we have the tv on so they could see?

Only to my horror and embarassment it was that god awful episode where Riker was going to die, so first they flood his mind with memories of all pleasurable things AKA a recap of every time Riker got laid. Only that nearly kills them so they have to go back and give him all the memories of bad things.

All the sexy stuff was embarrassing because my grandparents were there and plus it just made everyone think that TNG stupid and silly.

I think that episode solidified my Riker hate.

The best part about Voyager were the episodes with Q, because the actor who played Q and the actor who played the Captain were best buddies, and you could tell they were trying not to burst into giggles on camera.

Huh, I thought TNG was supposed to be good.
