Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I don't know about if I'd call them good, but the opening credits for Mannequin were certainly distinctive.

If it's open to TV show credit sequences, Carnivàle is an all time great.
I loved the opening sequence for Watchmen. It was better than the movie.
The credits for Amélie are amazing. Also, Charade and Reservoir Dogs.
I like James Bond title sequences in general.
I was gonna say: Casino Royale. And I think any Tarantino movie.
How about opening credits of Watchmen? [link] X-post with Amy.

What about Up?
the Sound of Music with the helicopter flying over the alps and Saltzburg.
The way the Paramount Mountain logo turns into the mountain in the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
edited to prove I do know geography!
I'm in the middle of a very strange movie from the late '60s, Skidoo. The opening "credits" appear on a TV screen for about 5 seconds. Then a remote clicks, and the TV changes channels -- and that's it. No more opening credits.
I love Skidoo! The closing credits are sung by Harry Nilsson!
