She was pretty good as Franny! But some of the other choices were a little weird.

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
(i was being facetious. Xander might tell me it sounded a lot like my regular voice.)
it's been a while since i read the book or saw the miniseries. i did buy the ebook after all the King discussion here a few weeks ago, but i haven't gotten around to reading it yet.
Rob Lowe and Molly were the only two I had any issues with. Well, and Laura San Giacomo was WAY OTT, but it fit the role.
I sort of wondered, tiggy, but I couldn't tell!
Molly really didn't bother me much, but Laura San Giacomo really did. Rob Lowe, too. And I really wanted someone more compelling and stronger for Larry.
I hope they cast it a little better than the miniseries, although Corin Nemec was perfect as Harold, and I liked Gary Sinise.
Ruby Dee was awesome, as I dimly recall.
John Lasseter just had a nerdgasm and he doesn't even know why.
Matilda - while watching a marathon of Micky Mouse cartoons - sat up and exclaimed "This one's my favorite!" when Steamboat Willie came on.
Ooh I meant to mention that Everything is Illuminated was on instant streaming. Catch it if you can. Really different movie about family and war and peace.
I love Everything Is Illuminated. The guy from Gogol Bordello who plays Alec is terrific! I might have to pull out my dvd and watch it tonight.
The Stand as a feature film? Interesting, but I don't know how they're going to chop up that huge book to feature length.
The miniseries started off so brilliantly, with "Don't Fear the Reaper" playing over the footage of the government lab post outbreak, and Ed Harris was really good as the general who ended up killing himself as Captain Trips got out of control. Gary Sinise was my favorite main character, and Jamey Sheridan was fun and creepy as Randall Flagg (but that hair was horrendous).
There's a slightly different retcon given in one of the Expanded Universe novels, in which it's explained that there's actually a giant field of black holes near Kessel. When Han was trying to avoid getting boarded, he ran very close to the holes, so close that parts of the hull got ripped of, and apparently actually shifted space-time.
Of course, both of these retcons are stupid in that Han uses the "less than twelve parsecs" thing to brag about how fast the ship is, not how good a navigator Chewie is or how reckless they are.
