You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Captain America (at least he's a Yank! Green Lantern's fucking Canadian) on the cover of Empire.

That's fair, Captain America's really the only superhero I would regard as being necessarily American. With the Constitutionally mandated exception of Super President.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I couldn't give a shit what nationality plays who. As long as it's not like you can tell by looking.

Well, there go my plans to re-envision Batman in a cork hat and stubbies.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I think it would have bothered me a little bit for Captain America. But as long as Cavill can make Superman sound like he was raised in Kansas, he's good with me. Certainly beats whatever travesty of the character Nicholas Cage would have inflicted on the viewing public.

Because books.

Nicholas Cage is a good twenty years too old to play that part! That wasn't a real possibility, was it?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It was a few versions back. At which time he was still too old, and not in a "You can do it anyway, Jon Hamm" sort of way.

Nah, if they had a Jamaican superhero I wouldn't be mad at an American playing him, as long as the accent were flawless. It's superhero shit.

I am still mad about Cool Runnings, though. And there was a distinct lack of flawlessness there too.

I hadn't realised there was a parsec retcon/explanation. I guess that's ubergeek to know it. Which you now all are. Thank me later.

For his weakness, we could replace kryptonite with bees.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Speaking of Supes, I'm never going to be able to watch Superman Returns after seeing Brandon Routh in Chuck and especially Scott Pilgrim. It's just NEVER going to work.

I think he may always be Todd the vegan to me from now on.

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

Don't bother anyway...it wasn't good. Somber and ponderous and no fun.

Somber and ponderous and no fun.

Unlike, Todd the Vegan. An excellent performance.
