Spike: Lots of fuss over one girl. Other things to do around here--important things. Angel: You know that whoosh thing you do when you're suddenly not there anymore? I love that.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

what.the.fuck?

I think technically (in Trek terms) they de-evolved to an amphibian-ish state. It was a long time ago, but the upshot was that while in this state it turns out they had mated.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

oh my god, I think I remember that episode.

I had successfully purged it from my memory and you just brought it back.

No pie for you.

My work here is done.

Although to be fair, there's an awful lot of Voyager I HAVE purged successfully. Not that though.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

In the first True Grit movie, the girl was played by a young woman. Was she playing a girl, or did they change her character to be a woman?

Kim Darby was 20 or so, but if IIRC she was playing 14-ish.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

she wasn't playing the role of a 20-year-old.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

For those of you who remember how gracious, cool and stylish Vidal Sassoon was on Shear Genius, there's a documentary about his (quite interesting) life.

He was in an orphanage from ages 5-11, fought as a soldier and then, of course, revolutionized hairstyling and more.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

We decided to try and watch Twilight last night. The DH lasted right up until Edward told Bella he'd been watching her sleep, at which point the DH said "This is horrifying and we have to turn it off right now."

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

D actually enjoys the Twilight movies. The special efects are pretty good.

I forget the name of the actress playing Maddy in the new True Grit but she was 13 during filming. Her mom made her a costume to wear to her audition.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

So I've finally seen Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Heathers. I wasn't really into Fast Times. It wasn't very engaging, and I didn't care much about any of the characters, and oh my God, I have no idea why Spicoli is so popular. He was so fucking annoying and overdone.

I loved Heathers, though! I could see the influence on Buffy ("What's your damage?") and, well, Mean Girls, obviously, but it still holds up as a great movie today. Funny and dark. And now I finally understand the context for "Fuck me gently with a chainsaw" and "I love my dead gay son."
