Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yeah, I linked to that in Natter. I think it's an irritating and dismissive chart, myself.

Well, Gawker blogs. They excel at irritating and dismissive.

The original source had written an essay I'd bitched about before about how she wanted to see female characters written. I just...I agree with what Zack Stentz wrote in the comments. It's too reductive when Faster Pussycat Kill Kill passes the Bechdel test and Silence Of The Lambs doesn't to use it as a be all and end all, and I think too often it is used as a shortcut to meaningfulness.

Because books.

Wait, how can Silence of the Lambs not pass the Bechdel test? Clarice and Ardelia discuss the case at length.

The case is a guy, apparently, ergo fail. But this is not my argument, just repeating someone else's.

Oh, no, I get that, but that's ... dumb. They're discussing a serial killer, for god's sake, not a date.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Yeah, but the point of the test isn't that women only exist as romantic interests, it's that most of the stories told in movies are about men.
