don't believe so, but Russell's character repeatedly needles Stallone's about his intent to sleep with the latter's sister in a way that screams "unless you care to make me a better offer..."

And of course, Russell ends up in drag later in the movie.

And Kulkin totally deserves a best supporting actor nom.

The only thing I wish they'd kept from book 6 was after the fight with Gideon, in the book, the crowd was all still there, and when coins started to rain down on them, in the first panel, the crowd was all "Ooooh, pretty!" and then as they kept falling, the crowd was all "Ouch! Ow! Agh!" That made me laugh my ass off. But I think that in the movie, by the time the fight with Gideon was done, the crowd had left.

Also? I think I wanted Scott and Knives together at the end of the movie, book be damned.

The weird thing is that I don't think any of the actors portrayed the characters the way I read the characters in my head, but they were amazing with their particular portrayals, which totally worked.

I wanted Envy Adams to look more like the book, which is ridiculous, because people aren't line art. (Well, okay, I strongly suspect that J.K. Simmons was actually line art in Spider-Man. Nothing else explains him.)

sumi, my only problem with that is that "reality" is not crumbling, as it should be doing if it's her dream, once she died. Unless the dream rules we know are just the nested dream rules, in which case, what's the point?

If it's Mal's dream, then she's not actually dead.

Inception: Right. I really like the theory that it`s all Mal`s dream, but I don`t actually buy it. But yeah, in that version, she`s not dead in reality.
 
I definitely agree about the totem, and I think as used, there`s some room for problems. Dom says the concept of the totem is Mal`s idea. So it`s interesting to see that he uses hers rather than his own which perhaps he had when they were together?
 
What else? Oh yeah, gender. I agree that it could easily have been more than one female on the team, (and a novitiate member of the team at that) two in the movie. And it fails Bechdel quite spectacularly as Mal is Cobb`s foil and Ariadne is his therapist. The only time they talk is dealing with him.
 
The other thing I wondered was why only Cobb`s repressed past was a threat to them all? Because he was the only one who`d been in limbo? You would think that among that motley crew there`d be some other problematic backstories.

Totally! She could have just stepped off the page.

On the other hand, Envy was completely wrong. Not just her appearance; in the books Envy was aloof, in the movie she was just plain nasty.

I agree, Tom. Envy was definitely my least favorite portrayal. Although I do give Brie Larson props for doing her own singing.

Sincerely, I have never downloaded a piece of music onto my computer in my life. Just tried it again. It says, "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Now what?
