Saw Scott Pilgrim tonight. Really liked it. Like ita, I also hated Scott for a lot of it, but since it was a coming of age film, and the point was that treated people disrespectfully because he didn't respect himself, it worked for me.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Problem with hating Scott for a lot of it was that it made the story boring. There was a guy I didn't like chasing a chick I wasn't interested in. Meanwhile, people I liked didn't seem like they were going to get anything positive.
I saw Scott Pilgrim again last night, and I liked it even more this time, as I could view it with an objective eye and pay attention to all the little details. It's really well constructed, and the pacing is perfect; there's never a slow moment or a point where you want to look at your watch. And I actually don't mind the Knives vs. Ramona fight at the end since Scott and Gideon keep on fighting, and the cheating revelation is part of Scott's earning the power of self-respect. As for Ramona, she does get in her "Let's both be girl" kick, so that's something, but I still wish she did more during the fight. But this time around, I really appreciated Mary Elizabeth Winstead's work as Ramona. She's really, really good, and she gives her more of the depth she has in the comics than I saw the first time around.

I very much did. Because it took me a while to realise that Ramona hadn't actually been written very interestingly, and I was just working off of Winstead's expressions. She gives good gaze.
I, on the other hand, did look at my watch. Especially when I was wondering when he was going to break up with Knives. I couldn't believe that lasted that long, and really sunk all hope of me caring about Scott.

I just watched Fast and Furious. Man, Michelle Rodriguez just can't catch a break, huh? It's a wonder she survived the first movie.
In between the parts where it was boring, the movie was indeed fast and furious.

Nice. Very nice.
I plan on watching The Last Unicorn at lunch. That is all.
