I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm glad your mom's home, Aimee.

Windsparrow, I'm glad you're feeling better, but I'm also glad your friend will be driving you to your appointment.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Yay for your mom being home and fed, Aims!

That's good news, Aims. Glad your mom finally got food!

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Yay for your mom, Aims!

So I test drove the Sonata and Fusion, which were both nice cars. I tried the Altima again to get a better feel for it, and it's still nice, although I did notice that rear legroom isn't grand. The Mazda6 wouldn't get out of my head.

Then, just for the hell of it, I drove the Prius, and WTF IS THAT THING IT'S LIKE DRIVING A SPACESHIP. I felt good about it too, and suddenly the Mazda6 has a strong opponent. It's a few thousand dollars more, but it's so wacky. They're very different cars; it's hard to choose.

All the cars I looked at have been pretty good; it's not like I can necessarily go wrong. But I'm not sure how to go the rightest.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

P-C, how long is your typical commute? If it's short, you won't get great mileage in the Prius.

That said, my unbiased opinion would be, PRIUS PRIUS PRIUS!!!

My typical commute is very short. And I BART whenever possible. I don't drive many thousands of miles a year. Of course, who knows how long my commutes will be in the future?

How is the safety on the Prius? It got mostly four-star ratings on crash tests, when most of the cars I've seen have five-star ratings for all but rollover (and the Mazda6 has five stars even on that).

That said, my unbiased opinion would be, PRIUS PRIUS PRIUS!!!

I can understand that now! It is a pretty neat little thing.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

I love my Prius so much I can't even express it adequately. Love!

And even around town, the lowest mileage I've ever gotten is 38 or so. I usually average between 45-47. Also, your brakes will last forever. And it's shiny.

I do highly recommend getting one with a Nav system if you can swing it. The Prius nav rocks rocks rocks.

Did I mention it likes carrots?

Hee. I have been in it! It is indeed shiny.

Yeah, that is a pretty cool feature, but it's only in the highest package

Did I mention it likes carrots?

Crunch, crunch. I really liked it! It's the only other one I'm really thinking about, the one I want to drive some more and feel cool again.

I still appear to be obsessed with the Mazda6, though. I just requested quotes from a couple other dealers in the area to get some negotiating power. Also, it would be pretty sweet to get one in Black Cherry. The dealership in Oakland only has Sangria Red, which is also pretty hot but more commonplace.

I feel like I'm choosing between the hot chick and the quirky geek girl. Maybe I'm making the wrong decision.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

When you take an axillary temperature, do you leave the thermometer in place for twice the amount of time as for an oral temp. AND add a degree to the results to adjust for the armpit not being inside the body? Or do you just do one or the other?
