I am not...I am not the damsel in distress. I am not some case. I have to work this. I've lived in a cave for 5 years in a world where they killed my kind like cattle. I am not going to be cut down by some monster flu. I am better than that. What a wonder...how very scared I am.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Aims, how totally craptastic. But everyone else is wise (especially java) -- it sounds like they do like you and value you and they know that the new position is a good fit for you and them; whether they actually forgot or there was something going on that you may never know all the details of and now they're trying to cover their asses, they want you. (As well they should, dammit.)

meara-ette from stuff upthread: Happy anniversary, Laura and Brendon! And hooray for kittens, askye, especially this pair of beauties! And tons of better job~ma to Vortex.

I have no voice. Like, none at all. It was fine yesterday, skritchy last night, croaky this morning (Hec said, "You sound like Suzanne Pleshette's evil twin"), and when someone from church called this afternoon to let me know about a schedule change it was such a wheezy little whisper that she almost hung up on me, thinking she had a wrong number. And now it's just an unvoiced whisper. Tea with honey and lemon I know and am applying, salt water gargling is also happening--any other remedies I should be trying?

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Well, the summers will be off, anyway

Well, some of it. *g*

(Seriously, Dad always had a lot of work bookending the actual time at work, and then occasional professional development stuff in the middle of that. So, yeah, more vacation in a lump than I get, but not the whole summer.)

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

New blog: [link] and LJ feed: [link] Y'all made me do it, with all your thinky thinkiness.

Much more still to come. Comments, questions, post suggestions, guest posts, all welcome. The thing is rooted (ahem) in the local sphere, but I'm happy (fascinated, even) to hear about how it's done in other places.

Yesterday, I saw the bike store down the street still open. I went window shopping. They sell trike's, but sold the last two during the day. They sell (1) model. It's a single speed, and costs nearly twice as much as the single speed at Wal*Mart. I don't wanna buy from Wal*Mart, but $200+ difference is a LOT! I'm going to try a couple other bike stores before selling my soul.

Our wings are not tired.

Omnis, if I were you, I'd say that exact thing to the bike shop. You never know, they might cut you a deal. Or make up the difference with free maintenance or something. It's worth trying.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I had a law firm forget to withhold my health insurance payment for a year and a half.

So for the next year I paid two-and-a-half health insurance.

I was thinking that. I'm going to see what the other bike shops have to offer first. Since I'm so close to the bike trail that runs through downtown, there seems to be 4 or 5 bike shops in the vicinity. We'll see if the others have trikes or not.

I have a very important question.

How does one blow up a Peep in the microwave? I need instructions in case I decide I'm crazy enough to do this with the kiddos tomorrow.

Wonderfully, there is a WikiHow article on the subject: [link]
