I thought of this conversation when I saw a piece on one woman's experiment in living on a dollar a day. Here's what she ate: [link] She mostly ate pasta and rice. Her vegetables were frozen chopped spinach, cabbage and the tomatoes in marinara sauce and her fruit a couple of bananas and a couple of tangerines. She demonstrated buying food for seven days for $7: iirc, pasta, rice, tomato soup, chopped frozen spinach and a couple of bananas. She went on about how much healthier it was.
Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Such pretty kitties!
I'll have to hook up my camera tonight and download a few pics I took of Amarna over the weekend.
Oh! They are about the age Loki was when I got him: [link]
Do NOT allow bed mousies. Unfortunately, I'm not exactly proactive at the hour Loki starts attacking the bed mice and my feet are all scratched up because of it. It's all I can do to figure out to tuck my feet up.
Oh, they are adorable. Yay for new kitties.
I just spent a while going back through all of the Loki pics too. He's grown so much! But the video of the kitteh coma is still adorable.
The kitties won't be in bed with me for a bit. I'm supposed to keep them isolated for a while so until Thursday they'll mainly hang in the bathroom. I'll move Nalu in the bedroom then. I think my study will be offlimits unless supervised for a long time since there are lots of cords and computer stuff.
Awww! Loki looks so cute!

And then you kill yourself out of boredom, so your grocery bill certainly is cheaper.
Aww kitties! I think Nalu looks more like a Dean. He comes off (in those two pictures) as too punky for a Nalu. Maddie looks like a Maddie.
What adorable kitties!

Yes. Right until the kwashiorkor hits.
I finished the second Elsie book. Not much interesting happened after her father learned to love Jesus. Elsie is still remarkably obedient and incredibly boring, but the demands on her are all the usual stuff, like keeping her dress clean and coming home for tea on time, that you'd expect.
Right until the kwashiorkor hits.
Scurvy. Pellagra. Rickets.
Pellegra was the curse of poor Southerners who ate locally, when their diet was grits, cornbread, pork products and occasional greens.
