Good luck, Hil!
Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Thanks. The interview isn't until January -- there's a big national math conference each January, and there's a room set aside there for job interviews. It simplifies the process a bit, since everyone's in the same place anyway.
Congrats Hil, getting an interview is huge!
The claim that raw foods are healthier because heat destroys nutrients has been pretty thoroughly proven false.
I know. That's what I meant when I said it isn't by definition healthier. But I've heard it works well for some. I have no bone to pick in this debate. For me, raw food = salad.
Yay Pix! You have done a lot!
Thanks, -t. I'm pretty proud I've juggled all of that along with work, and I think the wedding/honeymoon and the party are going to be really fun and relaxing. (I'm also really proud of how much money I've saved, too.)
yay , Hil!!!!!
YAU,Pix!!!!
We had friends for dinner. Need no more wine, but might need more brownies
I just saw "Whip It", and it was adorable cute.
how was the "non-date"?
and yay Hil for the interview!
also, beer bread people. I bought some lovely guinness to make bread. I have the proportions, but how long and at what temp?
Things not to do the week after having bronchitis: Take a group home full of developmentally disabled adults on a hike.
You are a sweetheart, and very silly. I hope you're not feeling too unwell.
Health~ma, Cashmere. That virus sounds nasty. Hope you're better soon.
Kristin, I'm glad to hear you've resolved the honeymoon situation. And wow you've done a lot of planning. We have done nothing. We are still unable to discuss the list of guests without arguing. (This is perfectly normal for us - but it does mean things aren't getting done. Hmm.)
I have no idea why I'm so hungry tonight.
I was uncharacteristically ravenous all day yesterday. Ate some definitely non-diet stuff, including chocolate fudge cake while working in a cafe. The WeightWatchers points calculator did not approve.
Yay! I just got a request for a job interview!
Awesome! Wishing you lots of job~ma and a really good interview.
I bought some lovely guinness to make bread.
Mmm. I want to get some Guinness and make a proper Irish stew. Enjoy the beer bread!
It's Remembrance Sunday here - made all the more poignant because of many recent British deaths in Afghanistan. I'm a committed pacifist, but I always feel that going to this Sunday's church service is an important way to support people of all kinds in conflict situations, including those in the armed forces.
The "non-date" was...eh. The whispered comments during the movie were fine (we interact OK on IM, mostly) but I was unable to feel polite about going home immediately after the movie, so got talked into sitting around for some awkward coffee afterward. Blah. Must be more firm in the future...how to say "you seem nice, but I have limited time at home, and wish to spend it with people who are already my friends, or in group activities with already-friends and possible new ones, not one-on-one with people who I am not immediately interested in"? Without seeming arrogant and nasty?
But in fun news, went out with two friends for more coffee (oy, Seattle...third latte today!) and dancing, and there was this random man in the dyke bar, who had a great fro-hawk and cool things shaved into the side of his head, and was skillfully managing the "dance with many random lesbians in the bar without seeming creepy or skeevy" thing. And he informed me (again, remarkably without seeming creepy) that I had the "perfect amount of booty". Which cracked me up. Hee. And made me feel good.
Seska, your Veteran's Day thing is always on a Sunday?
Seska, your Veteran's Day thing is always on a Sunday?
Yep. The Sunday nearest to 11/11, this being Armistice Day (in 1918 at the end of WW1). It was originally held on the 11th, but it became closely linked with Sunday services in the Church of England and was moved to the nearest Sunday. There is always a two-minute silence at 11am, which I've just observed (via its TV coverage), since my church doesn't start its services till 11.30. [link]
ETA: Meara, sorry to hear the date wasn't great, but the other weekend activities sound fun!
