Actually, it's the same price as the first one. The first one is only on sale online. And if I have it shipped to me, then it costs the same as picking it up in the store or the Ikea one. And the Ikea one is so pretty!

What I really want is an emergency Vortex, to kick ass, cajole drinks, and ensure good service. I could use that.

Our IKEA stuff has done us pretty well. We have a modular desk "system" from there and it's held up nicely for a few years now.

Basically, anything we want to go in the house on the second or third floor has to come in a flatpack.

I have far too much from Ikea. The midrange of their products tend to be a pretty good balance of cost and durability. Their low end stuff does tend to fall apart. We have at least a dozen Billy bookcases between the house and the office. They are dirt cheap and actually pretty good for the money. I'm also pretty partial to their table top and leg systems. I have a few of them around the office for work surfaces and to serve as desks. I'm actually sitting at one right now.

This is brilliant logic of the kind I wish we had had about the tricky bend in our hallway before the movers knocked so much plaster off the wall of the very tricky corner (and ended up having to go in the window anyway) to move the futon couch into the guestroom. Pivot! Pivo-ot!

This will never not be funny to me.

And yeah, our house and Drew's studio are pretty much IKEA showrooms. The cheap stuff is not very sturdy, but the rest is a good deal for the money. I do have a dream of someday being able to afford real furniture, but that is a far distant dream.

I am at Panera. In theory, I am working. In reality, I am mostly working but kind of not. I may need to give up and go home. Having my own little office space has made a big difference in my ability to focus there.

Oh, but I do have to share something I'm really excited about. ND and I decided we needed to get away for a weekend and not stress about work and pets and health, so we've booked next weekend at The El Morocco Inn in Desert Hot Springs, which is just north of Palm Spring, about a two hour drive from us. I am SO EXCITED.

ETA: The only room they had available was Rm 101, the Harem's Hideaway, which cracks me up. So pretty, though!
