So apple butter is pretty much condensed apple-ness? I keep picturing regular butter with added apple taste.
Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Okey dokey! I forsee inexpensive holiday gifting!!
Aims, make a loaf of beer bread to go with it (cheap and easy), and people will be wowed by your kitchen acumen.
yeah, why is it called "apple butter" and not "apple jelly" or jam?
I think "apple jelly" implies a jelling action usually involving pectin. Not sure about the jam thing.

Perzactly.
Oh! That reminds me. I need some small nice-ish bottles for the cherry liqueur I made this summer for x-mas gifting and I'm striking out finding them. I can find larger ones or tiny ones but I hoping for something in the 8 oz range with a cork or screwtop lid. Or one of those hinge ones like the Grolsch bottles. Anyone have ideas? I've been to Pier 1, World Market, Bed Bath, KMart.
Smooth, buttery texture? I dunno. I mean, butters just *feel* different from jam. And they cook differently.
Jelly = gelled fruit juices in the US. I don't make a lot of jelly, though I've made cranberry jelly in the past for toothless elders, and tea jellies because I could.
brenda, I found bottles like that at a local store called Kitchenworks. I don't think they're a chain, but evidently they're online.
Good luck with the rat, Laga! My cat brought e a shrew this morning, but it was already dead and shrew-sized rather than rat-sized. so much less trouble.
What a bunch of pretty pictures! Aims, I'm getting "No listings were found" on that link.
