Hil, you might want to put ice on your burn instead of just a cold compress.
Once I found out that most of the damage happens after the burn, as the heat keeps moving through the tissues, I started applying ice to my burns, and have found it to be really effective.

Ice is not recommended for burns. It can cause frostbite. You don't want anything cooler than cold water.
ION, have gone to the pharmacy and grocery store, put laundry in the dryer, have 2 loaves of zucchini bread in the oven, and made big yummy mexican rice bowls/burritos for dinner, which I am eating now. In 10 minutes: a whole hour of Treehouse of Horror.

I used a bag of frozen vegetables. I wonder if that's just as bad as ice. I'll adjust my treatment in the future.
I made way too much jambalaya. I just froze some and put some in a container for lunch tomorrow, and still have at least four meals worth.

You know, I've experienced both and...I'm sorry. Palmetto bugs are bigger, and fly and all. But they don't provoke the gut level revulsion that roaches do. I mean, ideally, you have neither, but I'd take the occasional palmetto flyby over roach infestations any day.
But he's in high school now and just about the cutest little androgynous gothling you ever did see. He's got jet black pigtails, blue and black eyeliner out to THERE, giant stompy combat boots - freaking ADORABLE. I just wanted to wrap him up in a black lace bow and send him to Jilli as a present.
D'awwwww! He sounds adorable, and I hope he survives his home environment without getting his spooky tendencies crushed.

When I first moved to Florida I had to go get a neighbor to kill critters if DH wasn't around to help me. After 30 years I will chase down any critter I see and crush with any available weapon until deady dead dead. Never thought I would turn into such a cold blooded killer, but it happened.
Palmetto bugs may not evoke the same emotional response as city cockroaches, but the size and flying thing... Ewwwwww
