It's like, in the middle of all this, I'm paranoid that you'll think I don't like poetry.

Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

My evening was a bit of a bust. My friend was due to come over for pizza and wine, but her colleague's laptop was stolen while she was at work, and she had to stay at work til some ungodly hour to make a statement to the police. Obviously even less fun for her than for me. I ate crisps in lieu of dinner. The Girl is coming home tomorrow, thanks be to Ceiling Cat, and then there will be actual meals again.

There's also some debate among doctors about whether Hypermobility Syndrome and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome - Hypermobility Type are actually the same thing or not, and the classifications have changed several times, and so what I have really depends on what doctor is examining me at the time.

My rheumatologist - who is some kind of world expert on EDS - is of the opinion that EDS Hypermobility (Type III) and HMS are basically the same thing. Except, it's unclear whether I have Type III or Type IV, thanks to an unclear family history. (Confusingly, Type IV also involves hypermobility. Most types of EDS do.)

Hil, I hate physiotherapists and similar who don't know what to do with unusual symptoms/patients. I hope you're able to find one that actually knows what they're doing.

As for doctors not knowing where to look things up - yeah, that's frustrating (if occasionally amusing). There's a certain tone doctors affect with me, which is the giveaway that they have no idea what EDS is. I start saying a lot of "As you know"s at that point. And then I refuse to see the doctor in question ever again. Much fun.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Leave a message on his phone. and it is possible he is sick and left a message on a phone, but didn't fix his email.

No answering machine. He's not sick -- he's been in to teach his classes, but he seems to just be going to the classrooms and then home, without stopping at the office before or after. If he still hasn't responded by Monday, I'm going to go to the classroom when the class is letting out.

That sounds like about the only option open to you. Also, what is wrong with your advisor? Unbelievable. I hope he gets his act together soon.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Hil, your advisor needs a kick in the pants. I would totally be waiting for him after class, with folded arms and a death glare. There's no excuse - if he can make it to his classes, he can get to his office or at least check his email.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Hil, would it help to e-mail the head of the department? Or copy the head of the department on the e-mail to your advisor?

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Well, shit. I mentioned to my OB that I've had really bad back pain for the last few weeks. She told me some things to do, but said not to use a heating pad. Oops - I've already been using a heating pad. She got an alarmed look and said it could "cook" the baby. Now I'm all worried I've done some damage to him.
