Anyway, enough about me. Not having a job is a much bigger deal than wedding woes. I'll keep vibing for something better to come along for you, Erin.
Spike ,'Potential'
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Wow, Erin. What a mess of conflicting expectations and requirements your former employers had. And how very badly they handled you. Just, wow. It astonishes me that establishments that are that badly run and impossible to work for somehow manage to keep shambling along.
Ok, I just committed the biggest bit of geek foreplay, ever. I just sent Keith Olbermann's office the correct Spanish translation for "The Worst Person in The World" I never get to laugh at Trekkies again. But it sort of shocked me that he stumbled over it, considering all the jugadores cubanos de beisbol But if I really sent him Coultergeist's ear, he'd chastise me. And maybe not in that sexy Giles "Do you want to be punished?' way.
To be fair: my immediate boss was a very nice person who genuiniely worked her ass off. She did try to work with me. There was a lot of...lack of awareness and/or availability for funding to make this potiion work. They wanted me to do full-time teacher work, and I don't think they understood what this entails, time-wise.
I could have communicated this better, earlier, and I was absent quite a bit. I am not all the innocent "didn't do a thing wrong, not me, nope" person.
HOWEVER...there are substantial flaws in their expectations vs. reality and time line. And as a social-services agency, they are very canny about CYA.
Erin, it sounds like your employers were completely unrealistic. I'm glad you have your bf to lean on, and I am sure you would do the same for him if the situation was reversed.
Epic, TCG bounced right back from the food poisoning. I'm still a little off, but not enough that I can't enjoy a weekend away.

And tons, massive tons of wedding~ma easyfastwayfixingthis~ma is on your way, Pix.
The Talk didn't happen, yet. We let my sister sleep in, and the whole Gilad Shalit video tape was all over the news. So we watched that. Still, it's bound to happen within the next 24 hours, and with my dad's current mood, I kind of fear that.
Oh, and happy Sukkot.
Erin, I am so sorry, and I hope something better comes along soon-ish.
Kristin, it will all work out. It will. and if you need to vent or be talked off the ledge, call me.
Shir, I hope dinner goes smoothly and calmly. And wait, don't I owe you email? I think I do.
Shir, talk-ma.
Kristin, I just read beep me. Tons of wedding-ma to you.

You have no idea how this made me smile. Thank you.
Kristin, I want you guys to have an awesome, wonderful wedding sans craziness of any kind. So here's lots of hope that the stoopid resort people pull their thumbs outta their asses.
Thanks for all the kinds words, sympathy, wisenesses, etc. I am eating chicken soup.
FWIW, MO employment has to document umemployment "through no fault of your own." Methinks my ex-employers would contest. Eh.
Furnance guys are coming between 2 and 3, so I'll work on job and practicalities here until their done (hey, at least my bf didn't have to take vaca time to let the heater dudes in!) and then off to the apartment for some packing and moving. I'll stop by a liquor store to get some boxes for books. I thought I was going to have two weeks to do this, dammit! And I think I'm a gonna dog-sit for a friend, also. Another friend was the back up, but the main dog-sitter had to go to jail (!) and back-up dog-sitting friend has unexpected hostessing duties this weekend. So I'll get a wee bit o' cash and said friend will help me move Sunday.
Also, friends with dogs have immense plasma TV and surround sound, and I told my BF he could bring his Wii over and play Ghostbusters on it and keep me company.
