[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

That's one seriously monochromatic protest.

Seriously. I just looked through the NY Times photos, and found exactly two people who looked like they might be POC.

VegFest was clearly the better option in this neighborhood today. Diverse crowd, good food, cute dogs, little kids with pictures of vegetables painted on their faces, and people offering positive solutions for things, rather than just screaming about how they don't like the way things are now. Also, donuts. And free marshmallows.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Your VegFest post made me totally envious. We need something like that around here. (Or more to the point, I need to figure out if we have something like that around here.)

ION, how have I lost my bank card again for at least the second time this week, when I have to go out of town at 5 am tomorrow morning? Sometimes I just can't believe my suck. (I also lost my CTA card this week, which is way worse, really, since I have fewer workarounds.)

Hrm. I have basil, olive oil, garlic, nutritional yeastand a mini food processor. Can i made a decent vegan pesto without nuts or do i really need to haul my butt back out in the midday sun for nuts?

I'd think you'd need nuts. Seems like it would be more like a salad dressing texture than a pesto texture without them.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Thanks, Jilli!

Nice! Now I want strawberry shortcake.

The Bakesale Betty strawberry shortcake is more like a shortcake topped with three billion strawberries and a half-pint of whipped cream. I could only finish about half of it. I think it'll keep in the fridge.

So I just left the current potential future wife a terribly awkward and rambly voicemail. Also, after looking at her website more, I found several more positives. She also likes Red Hot Chili Peppers and Beck and the Postal Service and Green Day. And Osha Thai.

Weirdly, she has the same initials as my dad.

Our wings are not tired.

Happy Birthday, Polter-Cow! Yay for positives on the CPFW! I'm sure the voicemail was as much endearing as it was awkward.

Where's "around here" for you again? Chicago? This seems to be VegFest season -- I keep seeing ads for them in all different cities.

Whoa, the Chicago VeggieFest looks cool. [link] It was in August, though. That webpage says there were over 100 exhibitors. I think the DC one had about 20.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

As a tenuous link to VeggieFest, I have a crockpot full of vegetarian chili simmering away, and the whole house smells excellent.

My efforts to be green when doing laundry got foiled by the dog (the one we consider the "good" dog) -- I hung a bunch of laundry on the clothesline in the backyard, which I've done almost every warm weekend since I've lived here.

The "good" dog peed on the bottom of the longest dress and my long nightgown. He's never done anything like that before. The Boy said that the dog was likely pointing out that I hung my laundry in his territory. Fair point, but it makes it hard for me to be environmentally friendly about drying my clothes. Sheesh.
