Oh, his hearing's fine. In Australia every baby gets a hearing test just a day or two after birth as long as the parents don't object (why would anyone object?) - I think it's quite awesome they can do this so young - and gets checked again when they get a check-up with the nurse. (We have a check-up today in fact, in a couple of hours.)
Oof, that's no good, Hil. Is there somewhere else you can go work, if you're doing non-computery stuff? (I've been working in a faculty lounge, and it's usually mostly empty)
Most of what I'm doing is computer stuff. The math lab is usually full of undergrads. The computer lab has only two computers, and usually the undergrad math majors who are working on research get priority for those, since they don't have office computers.
