More apocalyptic. I didn't take this one. I found it on Flickr, but it's taken from considerably further away from the fire than I am.
Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
This link is freaky! [link] Watching the fire spread. Not sure if the right side towards the end is two fire lines joining, or just one cresting to be visible on this side of the hill. Either way, AMAZING!
And this video, the amount of SMOKE! [link] Boggles the mind I tell you.
But this one spooked me the most: [link] It looks real close to the power transmission lines. I recall one fire while I was in CA that took out a section of those, and caused some blackouts! That would suck.
Stay safe California-istas!!
This fire is causing blackouts as far away as long beach (all depends on where you're getting your power distributed from). The fire has, in fact, taken out power lines, and is still threatening the massive communications array atop Mount Wilson.

That one is time lapsed, of course, but I think it's condensing an hour or so into about a minute, so it's not that sped up. Just enough to give you a feel for the way the plume changes over a relatively short amount of time.
Actually a number of the blackouts are being cause by the fact that we've got triple digit heat across LA and it's just the typical game of too much demand from things like AC units. My car said it was 106 out when we pulled up to the house a few minutes ago.
Lewis just texted me from the conference. Apparently several of the stores in our area have been robbed in the last few days at gunpoint. Same group of thieves-- organized hits.
Dear God, I'm worried. His store is in one of the most economically depressed areas of the city. I mean, he's not going t be there for the next five days, but I wish he didn't have to be there at all.
I had a real good workout today. Tried a couple new machines, with success! But discovered the fitness center has a scale. Soooooo tempted to step on it. But know it's not nearly as dramatic results as I imagine. I will be happy with the bit of extra strength. The bit less jiggle. But the curiosity is driving me mad, even now, 3 hours later!!!
Barb, much safety~ma for everybody at Lewis's store.
ION, did we know about this - [link] givesmehope.com?
My second experiment with dehydrating stuff is currently dehydrating. Granola bars this time, made with various sorts of whole grains, almond butter, agave nectar, a handful of dried goji berries, and a handful of pumpkin seeds. If this works, it'll be breakfast tomorrow.
