'War Stories'

Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Yes, I learned a few words, and I think when our schedules collide again, she will teach me more!

I'm thinking starting Shir's Hebrew-Buffista School.

And Seska, don't worry about learning France faster than Hebrew - France, English, German, etc. are all based on Latin. Hebrew, Arabic and Aramic are based on something else, entirely.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I shot rifles competetively in high school. My dad still weeps because I gave it up. I enjoy shooting pistols with him at the gun range.

My crazy, 2nd Ammendment Family can't understand why I'm pro-gun control. I tell them it's because I know them.

I don't think guns make people safer, no matter how much enjoyment you get out of them. The statistics just don't bear that out. But damn, they're fun to shoot.

Heh. I know. I used to teach linguistics. It still irritates me that I can't learn a different alphabet. I'm reasonably clever (and not used to being unable to understand things :P )

Languages are very tricky things to learn as adults! My old neighbor taught Hebrew and I wish I had her give me lessons before we moved.

Accents can vary greatly from person to person, too--a lot depends on what age you learn your second language. Some people never lose theirs.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Seska, I'm not learning to write. To start with, I'm wanting to speak first. Once I learn that, then maybe I can figure out what squiggle means which sound. Unless your in laws pass notes at the table.

See, that doesn't work for me. I put this down to dyslexia/dyspraxia/neurodiversity. I "see" words. I can't learn a language without seeing the words in my head. I'm currently trying to 'see' the words in English letters, and it isn't working for me. I'm hoping having a basic grasp of the letters will help.

Hold on, as is Hebrish? Oh, we could totally do that!

I've said it recently on Facebook, but I will repeat it here:

These ultra-rightwingers, who want no government and no taxes, but lots and lots of guns, SHOULD MOVE TO SOMALIA. No government or taxes there, and plenty of guns.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

No government or taxes there, and plenty of guns.

Also no food, schools, or clean water, but hey! Guns!
