I am back in the office today and wondering why I didn't work from home again. I'm freezing and hungry. At home I could cuddle in a blanket and toddle into the kitchen whenever I wanted. Shoot, half the people I work with are off in other offices this week anyway.
Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
One 4th of July, Hubby and I were in my office building downtown, which had a perfect view of the big fireworks show. No one else was in the building. Halfway throug the show, Hubby sniffs and says, "Hm, we're getting the smoke down here."
An hour later, we stroll out of the building--and discover that the door we were going to use was *inside* the roped off area that the firemen had sealed off because of the fire on the second floor of the building, on the opposite side of the same floor we were on. Cue the horrified and shocked firemen who began screaming at us to get out of there.
Granted, the office building was converted from several older buildings with doors punched in through the old exterior walls of the original buildings, so there was a layer of thick brick between us and the section that was burning, but there had been a fireman instructed to make sure there wasn't anyone in our section.
I usually just walk away, which apparently makes me the rude one.
Okay, not that you're rude, but you might try a smile and a gentle, "That's not my job," before you walk away.
Laura! You look like you're on Lost! Watch out for ... well, whatever is menacing people on the island this season. You also look both happy and adorable. ::misses Laura::
I am Windsparrow in re cats in sunny windows (although that was a cloudy afternoon).
The Emmett and Matilda stories always make me smile.
Toddson, that reported is Bree Walker. She was on the air in San Diego while I was growing up and actually lived in my neighborhood. Don't know if she still lives there.
urns out that not only does the first person to notice the fire have to pull an alarm and call 911, but someone on every floor has to pull the alarm on their floor.
Dear GOD, Toddson. That is not safe at all. (Though honestly, one of my first thoughts was "Yay for it not being a condo building, so YOU don't have to pay for the improvements?"). But considering there've been several well-publicized and awful fires in the neighborhood (and some issues with water pressure!!!), I think that's mad urgent. Wow. Glad you're safe and the fire didn't spread!
he he ... under our previous evil manager, the last time we had a fire it was worse. She'd DISCONNECTED the alarms - said kids kept pulling false alarms. Which meant people were running up and down the hallways alerting the neighbors. And then, when the firemen arrived, the guy at the front desk wouldn't let them in.

OMG. That's way too scary to be funny.
In college, My roommate and I once slept through a fire alarm (I was wearing earplugs). Our RA forgot to check our room.
Good thing it was a false alarm.
Dear God, Toddson. With every new post you make I'm more and more grateful that you are still here at all. There's no part of any of that that isn't infuriating and appalling.
Emmett and Matilda will be unbearably cute together, but I'm still slightly bummed, because back when we thought Emmett was getting out of school at the regular time Hec was planning on dropping Matilda off with me for the tail end of the afternoon before going to get Emmett.
But he gets out at 2 today, which means I'd have Matilda here for 4 hours, which is Not On. But, phooey. She's just very fun and personable and well-behaved, and the blood lab people like to slip her graham crackers and bottles of apple juice from their woozy-patient-revival cart and all the staff here just genuinely like seeing her and get pouty if I go too long without bringing her by.
Extra Emmett time will definitely be more fun for her, though.
The Laurapic is made of charm!
Am tired and overwhelmed by work. Send TA.

I could deal with the menacing people if the hott was there too.
