Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Huh. But your cooking is better than fake meat and fake cheese. I have had decent fake meat, but no decent fake cheese. You have more sophisticated taste than that.
The fact that I like to cook also confuses my mother. To her, cooking is a chore, it seems.
(As for "sophisticated taste," I just put together tomorrow's lunch -- leftover kale/chickpeas/couscous, apple slices, carrot sticks with bottled dressing for dip, and walnuts. Nothing too sophisticated there. Things like stuffed squash blossoms don't happen too often -- lentil soup or curry are much more common here.)
I chopped up one of the Morningstar italians and used it in a dish with sauteed zucchini and peppers tossed with gnocchi. So good, and sausage works much better this way.
I like to microwave a Morningstar breakfast sausage (faux-sage?) link or two, then crumble them and put them on pizza. Really good.
Cool apron, Steph.
For fake cheeses -- there are a few good brands, but most of them are really expensive. I've generally liked homemade fake cheeses much better than the affordable store-bought ones, but I've never tried making something slicable -- I've only made things like casseroles where you just make the cheese sauce and pour it on and then bake it, and it stays liquidy, or stuff like fondue or nacho cheese sauce to dip things into.
I love Morningstar mini corndogs.
Teppy, you look very domestic and adorable.
In a fit of trying to use up all the stuff in my fridge, I just ended up with kohlrabi-apple slaw. Or something like that. Grated kohlrabi and apples, with a dressing made with olive oil, apple cider vinegar, mustard, Veganaise, and a pinch of sugar. Pretty good, and I think it'll be better tomorrow once the flavors meld a bit and the kohlrabi and apple soften a little.
I just remembered that there are three things I need to do tomorrow that I keep forgetting to do. I decided to send myself an email with the list, so that I wouldn't forget again. In the time it took me to get out of bed, open my computer, and get to gmail, I forgot one of the things. So, tomorrow, I need to pick up my new glasses, do laundry, and something else. Maybe I'll remember tomorrow.
am home. Um. Dang it, no snogging. We had dinner. Talked. They closed down the restaurant. We stood outside talking for another 90 minutes or so. I'd take a half step closer, she'd take a half step to the side or so. Not that I'm good at reading signs, but, I wasn't getting the "c'mon already, kiss me" feeling from her. And I don't know how to say this. But. I'm starting to get the feeling, she just likes having someone around to listen to her. Don't get me wrong, I'm known for talking ALL day/night with people. But I realized, she was doing the vast majority of the talking. For now, I'm chalking it up to nerves. But a lil voice in the back of my head is just giving that slight observation. We are both pretty busy for the next week or so. Will text and e-mail to keep in touch. And we shall see where things go next week. I've not given up hope, mind you.
Call about my blood tests! That's the other thing I need to do.
Sorry about the lack of snoggage, omnis. As someone else who really cannot read signs like that, I don't really have any advice.
Oof. Good luck, omnis. Did you WANT to kiss her? Do you find her kissable?
Am in Spokane, and once I catch up on the internet, am going to take a bath using a bathbomb! HAH! So I don't have to clean up after it! HAHAAH! I even asked for a different hotel room after I checked in--they gave me this really nice corner room....but it was handicap-accessible, so there was no bathtub, just a shower.
Some friends had a mostly-vegan potluck on Friday (because the friend throwing it was vegan) and he got some vegan feta for the dish I made (I brought real feta too) but they didn't have plain vegan feta. But what he got was quite tasty, though a little dry. We decided it would be great sliced up with a little oil and with my quinoa/bean/peppers/avocado dish in a wrap kind of thing. I left the leftovers with my friend and a plan to do just that, for work lunches.
Oof. Good luck, omnis. Did you WANT to kiss her? Do you find her kissable?
Ya.
