Poor circulation and nerve damage, ita--people with diabetes are both less likely to notice/feel (due to the neuropathy) and their bodies have a harder time healing (due to the circulation) problems in their extremities. The two together make for a bad combo, obviously--if you don't notice something right away, AND it's going to have a hard time healing, it's more likely to get to a stage that would have been hard to heal for ANYONE, but especially for someone who isn't well.
Thus all the diabetics who lose toes/feet/etc.
Well, my feet are certainly reporting to my brain. They're noticing. But if it's going to hurt this much, I don't want them messing with it again.
Why did an exterminator get a reality series on A&E? Why? The ads for it gross me out. This next episode seems to function a great deal of roaches.
::shudder::
I have a hard time healing injuries to my legs. Since I usually wear shoes, I don't get owies on my feet. I check often to make sure I can still feel them.
The only time I've really gotten hysterical about this damned diabetes is when I was talking to the barely-graduated diabetic education person who was going through the spiel of symptoms, and she said, "But you can still do everything right and loose your feet and go blind, it's pretty inevitable." The only thing keeping her from getting strangled right then and there was basical socialization against murder.
I did report her, though.
Oh god, those exterminator ads wig me out SO MUCH.
I just went to a thing because work asked me to, but it was completely useless and ridiculous for me to be there, so I left early and got bun and cheese on my way home, and now I have pajamas on. Good times.
Also, you're talking about Lauren Velez, right? She's awesome.

Yes, and yes. I like the messiness of her role in Dexter, at least through S2.
She's also guest starring on Ugly Betty these days.
She'll always be from New York Undercover and Oz to me. I was super happy to see her on Ugly Betty!
Oh, I like Dexter's boss (Maria). I also used to really hate his sister, but I really really love her now. Cracks me up.
I like Dexter's boss (Maria)
The subplot with her boning her boss's fiancé was pretty cold, but I still enjoyed her.
