And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Will they be able to find those breeds at a shelter, though?

hip deep in pie

Perhaps from a breed rescue.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I thought they already said that they were resigned to a non-shelter dog b/c low-allergen dogs are harder to find.

(OTOH, if you're the freaking President-Elect and you want a specific dog breed for your 2 cuter-than-should-be-allowed little girls, I guarantee you that every single shelter in the country is going to be on alert looking for your First Dog.)

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

They decided on a shelter dog after there was an outcry about them getting one from a breeder.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I looooove it when some big off-leash dog comes bounding over and the owner yells "(S)he's friendly!" then my dog barks her head off and I get to say, "Yeah, she's not."

Seriously. I'm glad your dog is a delight. Get it away from us. I don't feel like five minutes of training right now ("sit, good girl, no bark, no bark, nobarknobarknobark"). I just need to let her pee so I can go to work.

Ooops. That's what happens when I never watch the news: I miss the important info about the potential First Dog-Elect.

That's because you S...

No, too easy.

Nebber mind.

Pfft. Not watching the news has made me a much happier human being. Not being subjected to gloom-and-doom "Will This Financial Collapse Be Worse Than The Great Depression? Will You Have To Eat Your Children?" so-called news stories, or "Hey, Look! We're Still In Iraq!" stories makes me much less freaked-out.

If that means I miss a story about a dog, well, it's a fair trade-off in my mind.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

"Will This Financial Collapse Be Worse Than The Great Depression? Will You Have To Eat Your Children?"

Not as long as you can catch sea kittens.

(I don't usually watch the news either.)
