I like boxing up books and unpacking them, too! I enjoy packing my boxes as tight as I can to prevent the books from shifting around. ChiKat can testify how much I enjoy unpacking books--I organized her shelves for her after her move a few years back.

Seriously, since I've lived in the same place for 10 years, I get my jollies from reorganizing under sinks and in closets.

Ahhhh. The joy of order.

  • indingstuffyouforgotabout,
  • gettingridofstuffbeforeitgetsskanky,
  • efficientuseofresourses
the joy goes on and on.

I stopped clutter clearing professionally though. My joy was dampened by the fact that others do not share my love of order and, in fact, despite paying me to do so, didn't really want their stuff cleaned up. Poor them. It was rough for a few of them.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Dana needs to see that.

Hee. I think I'd seen it before, but my husband hadn't, and he was very amused.

I read, I think, in a NYT blog post that Michelle Obama is opening up the White House for events quite a bit already, and really getting out into the community, and visiting service organizations, and really has DC excited.

I've lived here since '97. I moved up here with 8 milkcrates, clothing in luggage, a lamp, a microwave and boombox. And a trashcan. That was it.

Not looking forward to 12 years of stuff. My last major move was when I was 16 (from the house I first came home to )and my parents bought a new house. I remember driving a neighbor's truck back and forth with our stuff to the new place. The rest? I don't recall.

I hate the whole process. I've helped friends move and when my brakes totally died on the day of one move? It was a selfish blessing for me.

Loki was curled up just behind my ass. Mister Kitty at my toes. Lashing his tail. Loki is going craxers over the tantalizing tail and MK just had the "get off my lawn" face.

I'm with Matt, backing slowly away from the crazy people.

I enjoy packing my boxes as tight as I can to prevent the books from shifting around.

I do this, because I'm obsessive about my books, but I don't enjoy it.

I like order, in theory. In practice, I spread chaos as I walk through a room.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I have a friend that helps friends declutter. The best thing about doing it as a friend, she can walk away.

Personally, I love the idea. Realistically , I don't have the energy for it right now.

DH was away for most of the time when we last moved. Worst packing job ever. Too much stuff for one person to pack -- and I didn't really have the chance to get ahead of myself.

Packing other people's stuff -- much easier.

I've finally been trying to get my DVD/VCR combo player to record some of my dvr'd tv eps, but for some reason it wouldn't load the +R discs I was using. So, I went to the Toshiba website to see if they mentioned this problem on their FAQs, and sure enough, they say right there that Toshiba players don't take +R discs. It'd be nice if they mentioned that in their damned handbooks! They talk there about using +R discs interchangably with the -R discs.

Luckily, I called Best Buy to see if they'd exchange one for the other, even though I don't have the receipt, and they said no problem, so I'm heading over there tomorrow. For all the money I've spent with that company in the past six weeks, it's the least they can do.

I've been waiting to get at a friend's files for...ever. She says she can't stand the state of her paper...me too, it's stressful when she can't find mortgage papers, etc.

My filing system (okay Michelle Passoff's system) is a thing of beauty. I can find any piece of paper in 5 seconds. I do let unfiled stuff stack up sometimes, but not very high. I can't stand that gut-twisty feeling when something goes missing.
