Jayne: That's a good idea. Good idea. Tell us where the stuff's at so I can shoot you. Mal: Point of interest? Offering to shoot us might not work so well as an incentive as you might imagine.

Chicago and Ohio will get lots o' high-speed rail.

Dude, I would use THE HELL out of a high-speed train like that.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

High-speed rail! WANT BULLET TRAIN!

Punishingly Intricate

High-speed rail! WANT BULLET TRAIN!

I would settle for adequate public transportation in my city.

But a bullet train would be wicked awesome.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Actually, it'd be fun to put up a website claiming to be a psychic opposed to their plan. Then you could take credit when they fail.

Let's see.... "I oppose 'Faith Of Britain Day', because it will displease the Space Wombat!"....

Are you on FaceBook? You could totally start up a cause for that.

Just do what P-C did, and buy a black cherry Mazda 6.

Ha-ha. Ha ha ha ha.

See, my father's going with me, and will probably be my creditor for this transaction, so I have to use my "fiscally responsible" persona, since he also knows how much I owe in student loans, how prone I am to getting into credit card debt, etc. So yeah, we'll be looking at the cheapies.

Even though what I want is a Prius. Or to wait until April and get a Honda Insight.

Even if I'm looking at the very cheapest of each company, there are too many car companies!

I can say my MIL really likes her Honda Fit and another relative really likes her Toyota Yaris Hatchback. I don't have any direct experience with other cheapest models. I've read that the Ford Focus is pretty reliable these days and has cool electronics if you get the SYNC package and I imagine there are some incredible deals at the moment. The Fit is amazingly versatile, you can carry a lot of stuff in it with the back seats down as I learned when moving my BIL.

If you're getting a used car, and can find this, the Toyota Echo is excellent for its size. Really. I think Toyota stopped making them in '04 (and replaced it with the Yaris -- WTF, Toyota?), but even an '04 will last forever. Mine's a 2000 and shows no signs of slowing down.

I'm picturing Justin Timberlake in the backseat.

We hate our Ford Focus. Buy a Toyota.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

WTF is a "yaris"? For some reason I tend to think of Yaris as a moon of Yavin.
