You know what's the worst? Having to identify the racial background of all of your coworkers, especially when you don't all work in the same place. But even when you do! Like, do I put someone who I know is biracial in black or white? (We decided on other.) What about the woman who is Guayanese and possibly of South Asian descent, but we don't really know? (We decided on other for that one, too.)
Note: It's easier for us to come up with possibly faulty percentages ourselves than to ask HR, who may or may not ever answer.
OMGWTFPenny!
New Lincoln Pennies Unveiled: See Pictures Of Each Penny
The first of four new pennies chronicling Abraham Lincoln's rise from a small Kentucky cabin will be put into circulation Thursday to honor the 16th president's 200th birthday.
The coin's front is unchanged, but the reverse depicts a tiny log cabin, representing the one-room dwelling where Lincoln was born near Hodgenville, Kentucky.
The new one-cent piece is being unveiled by the U.S. Mint as part of Lincoln's bicentennial celebration, being held Thursday morning near his birthplace.
The remaining coins, set for release later this year, show other phases of Honest Abe's life: a young man reading while sitting on a log during his formative years in Indiana; Lincoln the state legislator speaking in front of the Illinois capitol; and the unfinished dome of the U.S. Capitol.
Oh lisah, that IS good news. Best recovery wishes to them all.
Skipping-what-else-is-new to post that, according to the Buffista Calendar, today is PixKristin's birthday.
Happy birthday, Kristin! With lots of wishes for a great day and a wonderful year!
Also, IIRC, even if it's not on the Buffista Calendar, MFNlaw is Kristin's birthday's sister, so lots of wishes for her as well.
And belated wishes for -t, whose birthday was yesterday (they're belated because I didn't manage to have any computer time yesterday, alas. I'm sorry about that).
I just hauled over 3,500 pennies to the CoinStar machine last weekend.

I think HR filled it out for me. That's how I was Hispanic for a day last year.

I first read that as "penises".
That's how I was Hispanic for a day last year.
So it wasn't on "National Be-Hispanic Day"?
Human-animal bonding
Hmph. So my cat really is abnormal. She rejects my oxytocin-inducing gestures!
Ugh. I've been drowing in work all week. Need a break.
Etiquette question:
So, all those grade school and high school friends I haven't seen or thought about in twenty years...I can defriend them now, right?
We had our little, "aw, your kids are cute you look great I'm glad you're alive" conversations.
But a lot of them have JUST DISCOVERED social networking and I feel like I'm drowning in newbies who say weirdly inappropriate things and I just want them to catch up for a few years when the LOL! LOL! has been beaten out of them.
I am a social networking SNOB.
Happy birthday, Kristin and MFNLaw!
