Fred: It's the pictures in my mind that are getting me. It's like being stuck in a really bad movie with those Clockwork Orange clampy things on my eyeballs. Wesley: Why imagine? Reality's disturbing enough.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Someone please tell me that the guy in charge of the tainted peanut plants will go to jail.

It sounds like it, anyway. I mean, he knew they were sending out tainted peanut butter. And people died.

This morning's commute was nearly more exciting than I wanted it to be.

A quarter mile from the office, there's a relatively steep hill with a curve on it. It's a main commuter route, and it was snowing this morning. I was heading up the hill and saw something moving weird out of the corner of my eye. I glanced over, and there was a car starting to slide out of control--and the direction of the slide was taking it into my lane.

My unconscious speed-and-direction calculator said I'd be out of the way by the time the car made it all the way over. but it's still very upsetting to see the side of another car closing in on you.

Yep.

Once I was leaving Milwaukee during a snowstorm - I was in the center of three lanes, doing about 35 mph. A guy passed me in the left lane doing about 45. Then he spun out in front of me. His car spun 180 degrees and was in my lane, going backwards. He continued to spin and ended up in the right lane, facing forward, where he regained control.

It was weird to see a car ahead of me, going the same direction but facing backwards (towards me)....

I wonder how many accidents are made worse because of people who aren't involved but who panic anyway.
