Yeah, Teppy, that's weird. A week is just STRANGE. WTF?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Is 3 days an unreasonable amount of time for me to expect one skirt to be cleaned? Was 7 days reasonable for the cleaner to suggest?

Well, in my office, if a salesperson sends me an order without a deadline, that order automatically goes to the bottom of the queue. If other jobs with deadlines come in after theirs, those ones are done first, so Deadline-Free Order that could have been done in 24-48 hours may in fact wind up taking a week or more to get to.

Hmm. I just assumed dry cleaners had a general time frame that customers could expect their clothes back, not a "You give us a deadline and we'll meet it or else we'll take a week" policy.

Actually, this was the first cleaner I'd ever gone to where THEY asked ME when I wanted my clothes back; most just hand me a ticket and say "Wednesday after 4:30," etc.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

ION, I think Jilli needs this product.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

My dry cleaner has the clothes done by late afternoon if I bring them in by 9 a.m and by about 2 p.m. the next day if I bring them in after that. They clean inhouse, though. I've never had any trouble with things like hemming and minor alterations through the dry cleaner.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I have to ask, megan, do you really have a cookbook called Cooking with Trader Joes? Because I may need it too given how much I shop there.

I also need a cookbook or some kind of starting-off point to get me to use my new crock pot. Now that I have one, I am unsure what to do with it.

Also? Car is with the mechanic and outside is wet. I think I am stuck at home for today.

Yes, thanks Teppy--am contemplating between yours, the one that looks like a desklamp, and one from another site. Trying to decide which would be more easily [and *properly*] used.

Yes, my friend S gave it to me for Christmas for just that reason. I must say it was so nice to have a cookbook tailored to where I shop. All ingredients can be purchased at TJs. I'm thinking of making the Saag Paneer Lasagna for my Oscar dinner.

I also need a cookbook or some kind of starting-off point to get me to use my new crock pot. Now that I have one, I am unsure what to do with it.

I also just got a slow-cooker for Christmas. The recipes from the recipe booklet that came with it have actually turned out good. I got a bunch of cookbooks out of the library and so far the best I've found are the 2 volumes of Gourmet Slow Cooker. This one [link] also looks good, but I haven't made anything from it yet.
